Our kids first stage performance

November arrives and there starts the celebrations in schools for the Children’s day. Competitions for KGs were listed and we decided to send our little daughter for the fancy dress competition.

The first thing we did was to surf the net as usual in search of ideas for dressing up our kid for the grand event. (It was a grand event for us since it was her first stage show). We came across details of costume hiring shops. We were first surprised by that idea, but what surprised us more was the long list of shops that were hiring the dresses in Chennai.

Again the net reached out its helping hand to help us find a shop that matched our requirement. To our surprise, most of the costumes were already booked well in advance. Somehow we managed to book a pineapple costume for the D-day.

The DAY arrived and our little angel was all ready with a small speech to deliver about her invaluable costume – The Pineapple. We were on the way to pickup our costume and a shock awaited us there. Due to shortage of costumes and bit of confusion due to the rains, the costume company went short of the Pineapple costume. They managed to give us a costume which was neither a pineapple nor an Orange.

With bit of irritation and anger, we started thinking “what next”? We somehow altered the costume a little bit and made it to appear like an Orange and started convincing our little angel to change her narration to an Orange. Poor darling.. She was confused a bit – but managed to.

In the heavy rains, we sailed through the Chennai waters and reached the school. There amidst a small gathering and in front of the judges – stood our little angle – all set to give her first performance. We were standing before her among the crowd with a proud look to watch her over there. Among the participants, she was the first to give a bit long and bold talk and the whole gathering ended up with a loud clap for that tiny tot. She was in all beams with a huge smile on her face and a big victorious look. Tears ran in our eyes watching her so proud and happy over there.

and to continue the same... she got third place in the competition. And we were happy to see her beam at us with her little copy of her first certificate.
